Greetings. Also salutations. I’m aboard a sun country flight between Las Vegas and Boston by way of via Minneapolis. New favorite airline?
I want to acknowledge all the well wishes that poured my way after that ugly day in Indy - both to me and to the whole family I work with. I don’t think I needed to be reminded how lucky I am, or how grateful I should be for all the people and opportunities in my life. But I was - pretty forcibly. And I am - pretty completely. So: thank you.
Also - this is me announcing an all spots residency this month in Los Angeles. We’ll be playing Wednesdays starting the 14th at the Foundry on Melrose. These will be free shows with two sets starting around 8pm. I hope you’ll join us. Also, the 21st is my birthday, so of you’ve ever ridden on a bus or in a van with me, consider your attendance mandatory.
All Spots To Black in Los Angeles: September Residency:

The Foundry on Melrose: 7465 Melrose Ave, LA, CA, USA, EARTHA
We had a three day break last week, long enough to shoot a quick video with photographer Ronnie Smith. He’s a man’s man, a lady’s man, and (more pertinently) pretty great with a lense too, if you ask me.
We got a nice mention over at NoDepression.com by way of via Peter Grumbine. Peter is a good man. And thorough.

Thanks Peter!
So i’m back on the Sara Bareilles fun wagon for now - this time we’re rolling through a whole lot of heart land. Today - Decatur Illinois. Parked on an eerily quiet campus now. It’s like initial daylight scene of horror movie quiet. Be nice to us Decatur. We come in peace.
Anyway - it’s a quiet day - here’s a quiet song…
Jose Gonzalez is one of my favorites. Warmed up for him in Junip with Ferraby Lionheart last year at the Eagle Rock center for the arts. It was a really special night.
…With apologies for the abrasive bumper up front.
A few months ago, we piled into The Chalet recording studios in Los Angeles with a few cameras, and our friend Raymond Richards as a secret weapon. It ended up being a really special day.
But we’re especially excited that the folks over at WhenYouAwake.com have chosen to be the home of the exclusive premier of the video! Please hop on over and take a look.
Our cover of “Take the Long Way Home” by Supertramp…
You guys? We’re in Walllingford Connecticut today. So far - squishing my enormous winter down coat into my suit case seems to have been overkill. But at least it’s made shlepping through the airports more fun.
So it turns out, these “christmas radio shows” are usually a mixed bag. some bands are on tour - others are just in for a one-off; some are working their first record - others their second box set. Tonight, it looks like we’ve been slated to play right before the Goo Goo Dolls. I don’t mind saying i’m excited about this. don’t mind it at all. i’m not sure i’ve ever seen so many guitars on any stage before. fer serious. anyhoo - will report back!
